Riding School

Riding school program caters to individuals without an indentifiable disbility and require no modification to their program.
Common individuals in our riding school are siblings of therapeutic riders, volunteers or family members of volunteers, however anyone is welcome.
There are limited spots in this program

What our lessons look like?

Over the age of 5 years old
30 minute semi private or 45 minute group of 3-4 (same price) with free 15 minutes horsemanship
Advance riders 45 minute semi private or 60 minute group 3-4 (same price) must be able to groom and tack independently
Individuals are placed in appropriate groups to promote optimal learning. This includes riding school program riders being paired with therapeutic riders if appropriate.
Cost is $40 per lesson, in sessions of 7 weeks.

Special Introduction to horses and riding for Adults

Hour lesson mix of horsemanship and riding for individuals 14 years old and up
Riders can continue into riding school if they wish to continue riding
Cost is $55 per lesson, session usually runs 7 weeks

Assessment

Contact Windy Acres Stable once all paperwork is completed, potential riders will have an onsite assessment with their parents, caregivers etc to talk about goals, specifics and availability.

One time $30 assessment fee

2026 Program Schedule

Our year is divided into 5 sessions. Each session is 6-7 weeks in length and allows for horses to rest at least one week between sessions.

For consistency participants in the previous session will be given preference for spots in the following session.

Winter 2026

Winter session March 8 to April 25

7 week session (includes March break, Good Friday and Easter Monday))

Spring 2026

May 3- week of June 20

Registration begins April 1

7 week session includes Victoria Day

Summer 2026

July 5 to August 22

Registration begins June 1

7 week session including August long weekend

Fall 2026

Week of September 6 - week of October 24

Registration begins August 1

7 week session except for no lessons on Thanksgiving Monday

Late Fall 2026

Week of November 1 - week of December 12

Program Policies

Payment

Payment is required before the first lesson of the session unless payment is being received by a funding source in which case Windy Acres must be informed and payment received by the end of the session.

Attendance Policy

There will be NO make up lessons

There will be NO reimbursement for cancelled lessons

However. if there is a day that your rider will be absent you will not be billed for that lesson if Windy Acres stable is notified at the time of registration for that session.

Inclement Weather

Lessons are rain or shine.

There will be no make up lesson or reimbursement for lessons not attended during inclement weather unless Windy Acres Stables cancels the lessons
